How it all started
Our story begins with our founder, Dean, an adventurous individual who relocates to Budapest just as the world went into lockdown. Surrounded by the most elite outdoor brands and seeing the prices, made him realize the quality abroad was unparalleled compared to what we had back home and if there was something close, they were often unaffordable.
So, working from home as a data analyst – the side hustle started and our very first product was launched – the 30L Original Backpack. Since then, we visit our manufacturing partners twice a year and every new order has had some small improvement as a result of our customer feedback loop which is the backbone of our product development. The range was then built from asking our community what they’d like from us next and then giving it our new school take moving away from traditional dull colours and limiting use.
3 years later, the side hustle was turned into a full-time business and Dean moved home to South Africa. 6-months later – Dean converted his twin sister from a teacher to our operations manager.
As a solo founder with no design and product experience, collaboration remains the backbone to our brand. The customer feedback loop and working with our customers on every new product makes the entire process purposeful as well as allowing us to fine-tune our products while making them better suited for the specific adventures our customers had in mind.
Being a mission-driven business, we take immense care in our supply chain. We conduct bi-annual trips to our suppliers to ensure quality control and fair, responsible sourcing. Over the last three years, through numerous late nights and dedicated efforts, we have forged strong friendships with our suppliers. As a team, we continue to grow our business and expand our reach.
